Krisis Spiritualitas dalam Pelayanan Gereja: Pendekatan Fenomenologis terhadap Pencarian Makna Iman Generasi Z

Abstract


The spiritual crisis among Generation Z has become a real phenomenon, especially among young ministers in local churches where they are involved in ministry but do not always have deep faith. Previous studies have focused more on Generation Z's involvement in terms of participation and religious behavior, while the inner meaning of ministry experienced by young ministers has been little studied. The purpose of this study is to provide an understanding of the meaning of a young minister's spiritual experience in the context of contemporary church ministry using a phenomenological-theological approach. Data collection was conducted through open interviews with several young ministers who are active in worship ministry and analyzed hermeneutically using the educative ministry framework. The results show that many ministers are physically present but not fully involved spiritually, because ministry is often understood as a technical routine rather than a space for encountering God. These findings emphasize the importance of restoring the meaning of ministry as a process of faith formation that shapes the character of Christ in ministers. Practically, this study recommends that churches develop reflective, relational, and contextual faith formation for Generation Z, so that ministry can once again become a means of spiritual transformation in the midst of a complex digital world.

Abstrak

Krisis spiritualitas di kalangan generasi Z menjadi fenomena yang nyata khususnya pada pelayan muda di gereja lokal di mana mereka terlibat dalam pelayanan tetapi tidak selalu diikuti dengan adanya iman yang dalam. Penelitian sebelumnya lebih banyak mengamati mengenai keterlibatan generasi Z dalam hal partisipasi dan perilaku keagamaan, sedangkan makna batin dari pelayanan yang dialami oleh para pelayan muda masih sedikit dikaji. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis makna sebuah pengalaman spiritual pelayan muda dalam konteks pelayanan gereja masa kini. Metode yang digunakan kualitatif fenomenologi melalui wawancara terbuka dengan beberapa pelayan kaum muda yang aktif dalam pelayanan ibadah. Analisis data dilakukan melalui pendekatan hermeneutik menggunakan kerangka educative ministry. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa banyak pelayan hadir secara fisik tetapi tidak sepenuhnya terlibat secara rohani, karena pelayanan sering dipahami sebagai rutinitas teknis, bukan sebagai ruang perjumpaan dengan Allah. Temuan ini menegaskan pentingnya pemulihan makna pelayanan sebagai proses formasi iman yang membentuk karakter Kristus di dalam diri pelaya. Secara praktis, penelitian ini merekomendasikan agar gereja mengembangkan pembinaan iman yang bersifat reflektif, relasional, dan kontekstual bagi generasi Z, sehingga pelayanan kembali menjadi sarana transformasi rohani di tengah dunia digital yang kompleks.
